The Posse of Three Talk about a Future Communist America under Obama

Rush Limbaugh says the recession isn't President Bush's fault. It's the fault of Obama. It's an “Obama Recession.” Wall Street keeps sinking - could it be the Obama Recession - the fear that taxes are going to go up, forcing people to pull out of the market? Obama likes a bad economy so he can have more opportunity to expand government.

Glenn Beck believes Obama has a socialist agenda for America. The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so someone else can have more. Well, hello and welcome back, Karl Marx. People should be able to keep their hard earned money. It's not because they’re selfish. There's as much out there as Americans want to work for. This is America. Make as much money as you can.

Neal Boortz notes that Obama wants to use his taxing power to promote some sort of murky "fairness" in our economy. After all, as Obama put it, the people he wants to tax have more money than they actually need and he wants to give that money to people who really do need it. Insofar as Barack Obama’s tax policies are concerned, it’s pure communism.

Government Grew Bigger Under Bush
and the Republican Congress

Even before the Wall Street bailout, President Bush spent money in a way that would make any liberal proud. When Bush took office, the federal budget totaled $1.9 trillion. Fiscal year 08 will top $3 trillion, with a deficit of nearly $400 billion. And that was before the massive bailout of Wall Street. Under President Bush, domestic discretionary spending has increased faster than under any president since Lyndon Johnson launched the Great Society. Not a single major government program or agency was eliminated. According to an analysis of 25 major government programs by USA Today, enrollment increased an average of 17 percent in government programs, while the nation's population grew by only 5 percent. This increase represents the largest five-year expansion of the welfare state since the Great Society in the 1960s. Spending on these social programs is up an inflation-adjusted 22 percent since President Bush took office. Growing enrollment was responsible for most of the spending increase, but higher benefits also contributed. The Bush administration strong-armed Congress into passing the first new entitlement program in 40 years, an unfunded Medicare prescription drug benefit that could add over $11 trillion to the program's unfunded liabilities. The administration dramatically increased federal control over local schools while increasing federal education spending by nearly 61 percent. Farm price supports, pork- barrel spending and earmarks all increased under Bush. True, President Bush did push through some modest tax cuts. But they were tiny when measured against total tax revenues - just 1.6 percent of the government's take. In 2006, federal taxes represented 18.4 percent of GDP, just one-tenth of a percent less than they did in 1995, during the Clinton administration. By almost every measure, government grew bigger, more expensive and more intrusive under President Bush and the Republican Congress.

In conclusion, Bush spent like a Drunken Reagan, but didn't bring Reagan's prosperity and in fact increased the rolls of the extremely poor by 26%. So the Bush Administration must go down in the Guinness Book of World Records as the very worst in our recent history when it comes to the economy. Even the Carter Administration, famous mostly for gas lines and double-digit inflation, managed a positive performance, though a weak one. Only Nixon/Ford joins both Bush terms in turning in a negative performance. And the figures here don’t yet include the 2008-2009 recession or President Bush’s final budget, which is predicted to clock in with a deficit approaching $1 trillion dollars.

Obama Chooses a Conservative Economic Team

November 26, 2008 - Some Liberals Frown at Obama's Economics Team. While the media and Wall Street are thrilled with Obama's economic picks, but not some left-of-center folks. In fact, there is no question that Obama’s economic team is right of center. All three are market-oriented. They’re also pro-free-trade. And if Ms. Romer can stop tax hikes, that will help the greenback even more.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

In Conclusion

So why did the posse of three sing praises to Pres Bush and his economy for the last 7-1/2 years, the very economic policies they are now lambasting Obama for, even before he has taken office? We must assume that if a man colors himself conservative, it’s ok; but if a man colors himself liberal it’s not ok! If that’s not the reason, then perhaps the posse of three forgot about yesterday, and all the blame for today’s economic troubles rests on the shoulders of tomorrow.

Now that Obama has talked about delaying any tax increases on the rich for another two or three years and has put in place a fiscally conservative economic policy team, what is the posse of three going to say? You can be sure of one thing - whatever they come up with; it will be a dark world they would have us believe is on tap for tomorrow. And of course that is to be expected; how else could they be so entertaining and make so much money? Like TV evangelists they must be laughing all the way to the bank.
